Publication Planning
A Large, Multi-Year Publication Plan
-
MedVal was invited to partner with a major pharmaceutical company to help introduce a new front-line antimicrobial agent.
Enlisted in the pre-launch stage, MedVal was instrumental in laying out a comprehensive plan to manage publications focusing on
the evidence-based attributes of the drug.
-
Based on authors' instructions and guidance upon initiation of each writing project, MedVal's scientific writers assisted in
the development of journal articles, supplements, posters, abstracts and newsletters to ensure clear communication of scientific
concepts discussed by the authors. Authors reviewed and amended each draft until they were satisfied with how the scientific
information was presented.
-
The plan eventually resulted in more than 70 publications over 5 years.
-
MedVal successfully implemented a multifaceted publication strategy—including clinical and susceptibility studies,
outcomes research, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacoeconomics, safety, and disease-state issues—that reported the
drug's data as the product matured throughout its life cycle. That strategy was deftly aimed at multiple audiences, including
infectious disease specialists and microbiologists, primary care physicians, urologists, pulmonologists, and clinical pharmacists
and other allied health professionals.
-
In addition to scientific writing and publication management, MedVal’s responsibilities included research; editing;
proofreading; graphic design of tables, figures, and illustrations; and management of the manuscript medical and regulatory approval
process.
